Hi, I’m Hannah Mackay Tait

I was born and raised in Edinburgh, and studied French and Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow. My mum’s side of the family is from the far north of Scotland, so my childhood summer holidays were often spent roaming the Highlands, and I’ve felt a deep love for Scotland for as long as I can remember.

When I realised I could be a tour guide and show people around my amazing homeland, it was the perfect fit! I trained on the Blue Badge course with the Scottish Tourist Guides Association from 2014–16, and I fell in love with the job. For over five years now, I’ve been helping tourists to discover Scotland. It’s amazing to be part of people’s adventures, whether it’s an Edinburgh walking tour to kick off their journey or joining them for a week-long private tour of the Highlands.

I’ve worked with clients from all over the world, from Saudi Arabia to Argentina, and with both individuals and large groups. Whoever you are and wherever you’re joining us from, I look forward to welcoming you and showing you the best that Scotland has to offer.

I’m passionate about uncovering forgotten stories and showing my groups a different side of Scotland, from LGBTQ+ history to women’s history and social change through the ages. If you have a special interest, I’d love to help you explore it while you’re here!
